Live in the moment.

Live in the moment.

Now that’s an odd thing to say. When are we supposed to live, but now?  But it’s weird how an awful lot of us don’t. Firstly we have the historians. These people live in the past, spending most of their time reminiscing and living in the past, remembering things that have happened. Wishing that they could go back…or saying what good times they were. But more often than not though, the memories weren’t so good and they keep reliving them over and over and getting upset about what has happened.  The thing with the past is we can’t change it. So accept it and move on.

Then we have the predictors. These people spend all their time thinking about the future. We have all done that. Waiting and waiting.  Waiting for the next holiday, a party, moving house, we just wait for things in the future. We even count the days down. OMG, what are we doing, wasting the most precious thing we have time. We miss all the in between times. Or again more often we are worrying about this and that, most of which won’t even happen. So we actually live in F.E.A.R. False Expectations Appearing Real.  This is dreadful because we are constantly living in a state of stress!!!

What about the ‘now’ this moment!!…Oops gone…  Now!! ..gone again. It’s very difficult to capture the moment..so don’t.. live it.  Nowadays we spend hours on social media capturing the moment. Here’s the cake I’ve got with the hot chocolate with all the trimmings. Take a selfie..smile. Quick let everyone see….upload the picture. Let’s just check to see everyone else’s ‘Now’ on social media.  We spend our ‘Nows’ checking out our past and everyone else’s past. When we come back from checking out the past the present will be here waiting.

The ironic thing is we can’t go back into the past and we definitely need to wait for the future which will be a ‘now’ when it arrives. All we have is ‘now’ this moment.  We need to live and enjoy our ‘nows’, live in the moment, because that is all there is.  We should treat the ‘Present’ as a present, and make the most of it.
