How high can you jump??

How high can you jump??

Sometimes when thinking about our lives, it is best understood by observing things we see around us or by telling stories. Here’s something that was seen and can apply to a lot of us.

How often do we restrict our dreams because we feel inadequate or don’t believe in our ability. Are we just fleas? I don’t mean we live on dogs and make things itch.

Flea trainers noticed a predictable and strange habit that fleas have whilst training them. Fleas are trained by putting them in a cardboard box with a top on it.

The fleas will jump up and hit the top of the cardboard box over and over and over again. As you watch them jump and hit the lid, something very interesting becomes obvious. The fleas continue to jump, but they are no longer jumping high enough to hit the top. Apparently, whether they get a headache, or they don’t want to ruin their hair or out of the kindness of their heart they don’t want to damage the lid but something forces them to limit the height of their jump.

When you take off the lid, the fleas continue to jump, but they will not jump out of the box. They won't jump out because they can't jump out. Why? The reason is simple. They have conditioned themselves to jump just so high. Once they have conditioned themselves to jump just so high, that's all they can do!

So what does that mean?

How many times do we do the same thing? We restrict ourselves and never reach our full potential. Sometimes it’s our thoughts that restrict us or more often than not something that has happened to dent our confidence or something someone has said. We end up just like the fleas, they fail to jump higher, thinking they are doing all they can do.
