Things go better with coke!!!

Fun Fact: Did you that more the 1.9 billion servings of coke are enjoyed around the world in over 200 countries every day??

Funny thing was ….I was tidying the cupboards the other day when I happened to find 2 cans of coke that someone had brought around for a party. I can see where the 1.9 billion servings come from!!

 Actually they must have been in the cupboard for months stuck behind some cups. Who put them there and why behind the cups is still a mystery?

Anyway, it started me thinking about how many coke slogans I could remember…...I don’t know why, very random really?  I managed to remember 3 which I thought was pretty good. I remembered;

‘Life tastes good’

 ‘It’s the real thing’  

‘Taste the feeling’.  

So I checked out online to see if there were any others and found these.   I found lots more but these stuck out: ‘Things go better with coke’, ‘Coke adds life’, ‘Can’t beat the real thing’.

We weren’t going to drink the cokes so we decided to do a little experiment. I knew that coke cleaned coins; I remembered doing that as a kid. The times I annoyed my brother by chucking coins into his coke whilst he wasn’t watching! You can imagine how I laughed as the coins slid slowly down the side of the glass as he drained his coke; anyway enough reminiscing!!!  So we decided to see if it would clean the sink as we poured it away.

Lo and behold as good as ever, the coke did ‘add life’, to the sink it came up spotless. Yay!!!

So I decided to do a bit of research and see how coke could be useful in other ways.............here are a few that I found, makes interesting reading!!

1.  In many states (in the USA), the highway patrol carries two gallons of coke in the car to remove blood from the highway after a car accident. (Yuk)

2. You can put meat in Coke and it will be gone in two days. You put meat in gravy in my house and it’s gone in 2 minutes!!!

 3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. No more toilet brushing for me.

4. It can remove rust spots from metal car bumpers. Wow!

5. It can clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

6. It will loosen a rusty bolt. Now that’s a handy tip.

7. It will remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. Better than most products I buy.

So what does that mean;

The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8 a very strong acid.
It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days.  Most worryingly though, phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and can be a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.  

‘Things do go better with coke’, but I’d really like to keep my bones and teeth, I find them quite useful!!!
